Harwich, Massachusetts (Barnstable).126,190,191,192,193,194 He enlisted in the military on 10 February 1777 in Harwich, Massachusetts (Barnstable)188,191,192,194 He served in the military on 15 April 1777 in the Revolutionary War, 1775 - 1783.188 He was mustered on this date. Atkins was discharged from the military on 31 December 1779 in Massachusetts188 Atkins was on a 60 day furlough on this date - see the note under miscellaneous. He listed as a deserter from Col. Putnam's 5th Regiment of the Continental Army in March 1780 in Albany, New York (Albany).188 "affidavit sworn to in Kennebec Co., March 4, 1820, signed by said Ellis, stating that he was 68 yrs. of age, a resident of Industry, Maine, that he enlisted in Feb., 1777, at Harwich, as a Corporal in Capt. Joshua Benson's co., Col. Rufus Putnam's regt. to serve during the war; that he served until Dec. , 1779, when he was furloughed for 60 days; and that he had never received the delayed wages and interest due him; affidavit endorsed the account on books imperfect and he left service irregularly, being furloughed and not returned; Ebenezer Billings of Boston, given power of attorney to receive money for said Ellis." He a family of 10 people on the 1790 census, 6 males and 4 females in 1790.195 Atkins immigrated in 1796 to New Sharon, Maine (Franklin).132 A Gore of land between Mt. Vernon and Readfield. He lived in New Sharon, Maine (Franklin) in 1800.132,192,194 1800 census places this family in Plymouth Gore. Lot #35 was where he situated. He lived in Industry, Maine (Franklin) in 1810.134 Atkins placed on the Revolutionary War pension rolls on 22 April 1818 in Saint Albans, Maine (Somerset).196 W2604 - Index to rolls. He lived in Industry, Maine (Franklin) on 4 March 1820.135 He on 4 March 1820 in Maine (Kennebec). "affidavit sworn to in Kennebec Co., March 4, 1820, signed by said Ellis, stating that he was 68 yrs. of age, a resident of Industry, Maine, that he enlisted in Feb., 1777, at Harwich, as a Corporal in Capt. Joshua Benson's co., Col. Rufus Putnam's regt. to serve during the war; that he served until Dec. , 1779, when he was furloughed for 60 days; and that he had never received the delayed wages and interest due him" Atkins died on 18 October 1833 at the age of 81 in Saint Albans, Maine (Somerset).126,187,190,194,197 His death date listed on the 1835 pension rolls. Atkins was listed by the military as being 5 ft. 6 inches tall, of light complexion, with brown hair.

1810 census - "Adkins" living with his wife, 1 male 16 - 25, 1 male 10 -15, and 1 female 16 - 25. Total family of 5 living in Industry, Maine. "Adkins" Jr. listed separately on same census page.
