The following from great-grandson John Rutherford: "Clarissa Reed was born at North Point, Utah which is now known as North Salt Lake. She was the tenth of eleven children born to Levi Ward Reed and Matilda Eve Pettit. Clarissa lived all of her childhood and youth at North Point. In 1880 a twenty-three year old Swedish boy came to Utah to stay at her father's home after crossing the ocean from Sweden. Clarissa was just thirteen years old at that time , but they must have started a friendship because eight years later in 1888 they were married in the Mormon Temple at Logan, Cache, Utah. Otto Larson her husband was thirty years old and Clarissa was twenty-one at the time of their marriage. They soon moved to Pleasent Green, (Magna) in Salt Lake County, Utah where they had ten children. My Grandmother, Laura Larson Rasmussen was the third born of these children. Janet Larson Franson a Grandaughter was told that Clarissa was a very good cook and seamstress. She enjoyed children and would take much of her time to enjoy them around her. She also took time to listen to them, children loved to be with her. Her son Otto Reed was killed in a tragic accident. After this Clarissa seemed to become withdrawn and seemed to not enjoy life as much. She passed away eight months after her son's death; one month after she had turned forty-nine on March 10, 1916. She is buried at the Pleasant Green Cemetery at Magna, Utah." Clarissa Reed and Otto Larson were married on 28 March 1888 in Logan, Utah (Cache).
