Fifth Generation 371. Jasher Taylor was born on 12 March 1761 in Yarmouth, Massachusetts (Barnstable). He was baptized on 17 May 1761. He died on 17 February 1806 at the age of 44 in Buckland, Massachusetts (Franklin). Jasher was 1/16 Wampanoag/Narragansett Indian from mother. There are 3 Jasher Taylors on p 434 of Mass. Soldiers & Sailors. One is certainly this Jasher. "age, 20 yrs; stature 6 ft., 1 in.; complexion, light; occupation, farmer; engaged for town of Ashfield; engaged May 16, 1781; term, 3 years." The other are probably his father and cousin. All 3 are in DAR Patriot Index p 668. Name is spelled many ways; Josher,Jasper,Jashur. I have probate record which is quite long because he left no will and lots of debts. Even though Jasher had remarried, when he died, his minor children went to live with Jeremiah Ward who was probably a second cousin and brother-in-law of Jasher's son-in-law, Jonathan Ward. Stated another way; Jasher's daughters, Ruth and Susannah, both married Jonathan Ward. Jonathan's older sister, Hannah Ward, married Jeremiah Ward (a second cousin?) and this is most likely the Jeremiah Ward that was selected guardian for the six minor children of Jasher. Refereed to as Lieutenant Jasher in most cases after about 1785. Jasher Taylor and Susanna Kelley were married on 13 January 1785 in Ashfield, Massachusetts (Franklin). Susanna Kelley was born about 1757. She died on 5 April 1804 at the age of 47 in Buckland, Massachusetts (Franklin). Jasher Taylor-33064 and Susanna Kelley-33066 had the following children: +857 i. This may be the Jasher Taylor who married Miss Betsy Bryant 12 Apr 1827 in Ashfield. Jasher Taylor and Marcy Taylor were married on 19 May 1805 in Ashfield, Massachusetts (Franklin). Marcy Taylor was born on 27 July 1765 in Yarmouth, Massachusetts (Barnstable). Marcy & Jasher were 2nd cousins. Her signature looks like "Marey" but she is always refered to as Marcy. She was pregnant at the time of her husbands death. The daughter was named Ruth after her older sister who died about 5 years earlier.
